When trying
to answer the question of why people frequent places such as the Parco Ducale
and which quality of time they spend there, we think about aspects which are not
only historical and local. Facing the matter of the green spaces in town today
means using a systematic approach to scientific, biologic and ecological
derivations. In
this section you can find only a superficial list of functions and enquiries,
which the students of the Liceo Biologico have faced in several years starting
from the direct analysis of the place: these functions and enquiries are
synthesized in order to provoke a suggestiveness which can lead to a simple
reflection or to a wider research. The functionsThe Park has
to be observed as a complex environment, burdened of different functions and
meanings which are sometimes contradictory and which have to be composed
in order to search an internal balance and a balance with the town. The green
areas in general and the Parco Ducale in particular, exert a series of functions
meaningful for their social value and for the human well-being (functions of
social relationship, of physical and psychological well-being, aesthetical,
historical and cultural functions). The research of this well-being is
substantially the research of a balance between the components of a system of
relationships, not only material, which we live inside and outside ourselves
every day. The aspects
concerning the need of conservation of the Garden are not only related to social
but also to environmental demands because the value of green spaces in the XXI
century town has changed because of the balance, almost compromised now, between
man and the environment. The
ecological functions of such a meaningful place can be grouped in: the
regulation of the air and of the micro-climate, the biological regulation and
the regulation of the soil and of the water regime. The
research The
experimental and documentary research is at the bottom of an interdisciplinary,
didactic and formative approach directed to the systemic analysis of the
environment and to the search for plausible balances between human beings and
nature. The
gathering of data concerning the Parco Ducale has implied: the documental regest,
the optical image, the analysis of manufacture , the analysis of the functions,
the sociological research and the
phonometric survey. The data has been gathered over several years and concern
the situation before (1995) and after (2003) the restoration of the Garden. |
