Istituto Tecnico Commerciale Bodoni is a State school that has always been engaged, in addition to its institutional role of upper secondary school with day and evening courses, with the problem of the young and of the adults wishing to complete their education and with the qualifications and training of the teachers. Also the role of teacher trainer is institutional, but it finds a particular fertile ground in the dedication of the teachers who have always activated curricular and extra-curricular activities to face the various emergencies risen during the years such as drug abuse prevention, health education, AIDS prevention, nicotine addiction prevention, etc. To carry out these projects the school has required the collaboration of institutional experts and of Local Authorities (members of the Town Council, of the Province, of Local Health Authorities, of the town Hospital etc.).  Bodoni commercial school is the seat of the Permanent Territorial Center for the education of the adults networking with other Institutions in the town and actively collaborates with the Educational Research Centre of the Region Emilia Romagna on themes involving the education of the adults and European projects.

Udrija Basic School is situated in the village (Alytus region). We have 140 students (they are 8- 16 years old). The parents of the children do not have jobs , so they make their living by farming. About 70 per cent of children get free meals at school. 13 per cent of children are with special needs. Alcohol is the biggest problem in the families and among our pupils. The teachers of our school visited many courses and seminars on the topic, we worked very hard among parents and pupils but the results did not improve. Last year we organized some workshops for the teachers on the problem.  We are in touch with the local community and we organize discussions and lectures for them by the help of our regional doctors.

We think it is necessary to pay more attention at the problem in order to reduce alcoholism in the parents. At present we are involved in the international project Comenius 1, "The values of teenagers".

Second Chance School Neapoli Thessaloniki being a state school mainly for young unemployed adults, very often has to deal with problems of alcohol, nicotine or drug addiction. A psychologist and a career advisor help the teaching stuff to deal with the problems arising and is a common practice experts from local Institutions,  (doctors, social care expertise, police officers, and lawyers) to be invited in our school to train teachers and inform students on Health Promotion. Projects on the above issues as well as on violence and racism have been carried out in our school by students and teachers in cooperation with local authorities. A lot of the above projects have been presented in Teachers Training Seminars organized by our national “Institute for Adults Education”.  Last year we took part in a project “Sex and Education” run by the national “Awareness Center for equal rights for sexes”, made a research and produced material edited in a booklet.
