The School is attended by about 900 students, the classes are 33 plus 3 evening lessons and 4 classes in the local penitentiary of Parma. The school manager is Mister Guido Campanini. There are about 110 teachers; non-teaching staff is composed of a general-administrative director, 8 secretaries and 9 supervisors, 9 cleaners and 9 assistants, 2 technical assistants and 1 librarian. The building was built in conformity with safety regulations for the needs of students: in fact every part of the building is easy to reach, thanks to lifts and sloping floors, without any type of architectonic barrier. The school has the biggest library in the province, a video room, an auditorium with 400 seats, equipped with up to date audio-visual aids and internet connections. There are two gymnasiums, one of which has seats for the spectators where athletics events can easily be organised. Finally the school offers five I.T.(Information Technology) laboratories; one Physics Laboratory, one Chemistry Laboratory and two Language Laboratories. The
official school syllabus provides the teaching of foreign languages in
the first two years for all the classes, then in the last three years
the teaching of one or two languages or the teaching a third language
for the E.R.I.C.A. course. Native
speakers and a modern multimedial language lab are other possibilities
at hand. Moreover
the school offers different projects aiming at a more motivating and
stimulating approach to the study of European languages. In
the last few years much effort has been made to improve the knowledge of
the European Union: in all its linguistic and cultural aspects. We want our students to became real and convinced European citizens. THE
PROJECTS
With
Transnational Mobility of Regional Commission N^ 1064/2005, the school
obtained the approval of the transnational project. This
activity will be carried out with European Social Fund ministry of
Labour and Social Policy. This
project aims to develop insight into European culture, to enrich the
students’ education, with specific visits and exchanges during the
school year in different European countries. This
project is organised in collaboration with Parma University to simplify
the study of scientific subjects for the foreign students attending the
school. The
contents of some topics are learned both in the foreign and Italian
language. Thanks
to this integrated approach these students can learn the Italian
language. The
activities of this project are based on the collaboration between
apprentices and teachers of the specific subjects. This project organised by the local University and the Ministry of Education aims to help students in the first two years to acquire the correct methodology and specific language of scientific subjects: it is based on the more general Goal Oriented Project Planning. The
attention of Bodoni school towards the success of their members can be
seen in the use of new didactic strategies based on modern communicative
technology used every day and in every subject. The
high school has a computer system composed of a local network which
links all the school services. The local network has a server which
keeps all the data under central control and it is also
responsible for supervising the network. Access to the geographical
network is through a router on the ADSL line. Thanks
to the network the share of the data and hardware is now possible. Due
to this system more modern experiences are also possible and it has been
beneficial for the students. The
school is also trying to experiment the school registers on the network.
This can improve communication between the school and families.
The families have different passwords which allows them to get
information about the absences and the grades of their children. Finally
there is another opportunity: families can communicate with teachers by
e-mail. |
